Delivered by the Girls In Sports mentoring team, the Girls In Sports Leaders In Training Program is designed especially for young people to uncover their hidden talents, improve their confidence, help them make the right choices about their future and give them the opportunity to network with Sports Professionals in the London area and visit numerous firms to learn about possible career opportunities for their future.
The LIT program is a 10week course designed for young people age 16 to 18 to help uncover hidden talents and improve confidence through:
Young people will study in a group of no more than 15 young people, supported by a specifically trained Program Leader and Assistant Program Leader. Young people will work on a range of sporting community projects and undertake work experience whilst completing the program.
The 10week programme is full time, four days a week and it includes a weeklong sporting residential. This gives the young people a chance to bond with the other young people and work as a team. Young people will have the opportunity to develop their resume, receive help with mentoring and dealing with their behaviour management, help with reintegration in school or college and work with an employer of their in the sporting world choice to gain valuable experience.
If the young people successfully complete the LIT program, they are well placed to progress onto a variety of different programs and opportunities within the sports industry as apprentices, further training on gaining the qualifications in coaching or return back to school. The program is delivered at our offices in the heart of London’s Islington.
Schools and referral agencies can refer young people onto the program via our website or booking a meeting for an interview. We run three cohorts a year; September - November, January - March and April - June.
